About

The SAT is now entirely online and taken through a personal or school-issued device. The structure is vastly different than the paper version, and old study materials should not be used to prep for it.

Structure

It is still out of 1600 points total - 800 ELA and 800 Math - but the test is adaptive. That means that your maximum possible score is dependant on how you do on the first “module.” For example, when you begin ELA you’ll be given the first module, if you do well, you will be given the difficult second module and your maximum possible score will be 800. However, if you do not do well on the first module (<60% correct), you’ll be given the easier second module and your maximum possible score will be around a 560.

There are two modules per section — 2 for ELA and 2 for math.
